North Dayi MP, Jocelyn Tetteh, has passionately called for greater ministerial representation for Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Volta Region, citing their unwavering commitment and contributions to the party’s success. Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express on Tuesday, January 21, Ms. Tetteh argued that the region’s loyalty and hard work merit more than the current three ministerial appointments.

“With the effort we have put in as a region, I think we deserve more than the three appointments we currently have,” she said.
“Every region has performed, but given our efforts, we deserve more.”

The North Dayi MP emphasized the sacrifices made by MPs in the Volta Region to retain their seats under challenging conditions, including limited resources. She also highlighted the region’s political significance as the party’s stronghold.

“We have 18 seats, and we even managed to reclaim the one MPP seat we lost. Out of these, only two women emerged victorious. This should not be overlooked,” she stated.

Ms. Tetteh reminded the party leadership of the Volta Region’s steadfast loyalty and the tireless work of its MPs to deliver electoral victories. She urged President John Dramani Mahama to consider these efforts when making future ministerial appointments.

“We are hopeful that His Excellency will turn his eyes towards the Volta Region, as we are his stronghold and have remained focused. We want to maintain that strong support,” she added.

While advocating for increased appointments, Ms. Tetteh acknowledged that the ultimate decision lies with the President. She stressed that the appeal is not about forcing appointments but rather about recognizing the region’s contributions and utilizing presidential discretion.

“It’s not for us to decide who he appoints or who he doesn’t. It’s about his discretion and what he deems best,” she remarked.

Concluding her remarks, Ms. Tetteh expressed optimism that the region’s efforts would be rewarded.

“We believe that increasing the figures will not be bad at all,” she said, reaffirming the Volta Region’s commitment to supporting the party and its leadership.
