Speaking during Dumelo’s vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Iddrisu reminded the nominee that his primary responsibility is to support the Minister for Agriculture in tackling the sector’s challenges.

“If you go to the Ministry, try to assist your Minister. The Ministry is huge, and you should not try to jump the gun. And also note that when you go to the Ministry, you are not in your movie industry as you are. Try to be as serious as you can so that you can be able to assist your Minister to succeed.”

In response, John Dumelo reaffirmed his commitment to inspiring Ghanaians to pursue their passions and contribute meaningfully to national development.

“I want to inspire people to be able to follow their passion, follow what they want to do, and do it well.”

Reflecting on his journey through acting, business, and politics, Dumelo acknowledged his past successes and expressed his determination to excel in his new political role.

“I'm a man of probably many talents. In the movie industry, I think I did quite well. In the business industry, I think I'm doing quite well. And in politics, I'm yet to do well.”

As the Deputy Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture, Dumelo is expected to play a key role in shaping policies that enhance food security, modernize farming, and create job opportunities for young people. His previous engagement in agriculture and agribusiness positions him as a potential game-changer in making the sector more attractive to Ghanaian youth.

With his new appointment, Dumelo is set to transition from the spotlight of the entertainment industry to the demanding landscape of public service, where he must demonstrate strategic leadership and commitment to national progress.
