President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will deliver his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Friday, January 3, 2025, as part of his constitutional obligation under Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution. This address will serve as his concluding account on the nation’s status before leaving office, marking the end of his tenure as President.

A Significant Parliamentary Transition
The 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic will officially dissolve on Monday, January 6, 2025, ushering in the 9th Parliament. This transition will kick off at 11:00 PM with the election of a new Speaker of Parliament and two Deputy Speakers.
At midnight, the Speaker-elect and the newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) will take their oaths, symbolizing the start of the next legislative term. This ceremony will pave the way for the legislative agenda of the incoming government and Parliament.
