Mr. Ablakwa, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, revealed that the committee has been meticulously reviewing over 700 petitions received from the public as part of its mandate to ensure accountability and curb corruption in governance.

Speaking to Citi News, Mr. Ablakwa emphasized the committee’s dedication to its task, which he described as both challenging and significant for fostering integrity in government.

“We are still compiling all the cases, and we will be presenting our report to the President soon. So far, the petitions we have received exceed 700, and it has been a daunting task. But there is strong political will, and we are all passionate about this process,” he stated.

He added that the ORAL Committee’s work aims to deter corruption by holding officials accountable, both past and present.

“What I like about what is going on is that we have the opportunity to show the same passion that we exhibited in opposition. Now that we are in government, we are equally committed to this. It serves as a deterrent to those of us coming into government.”

Mr. Ablakwa noted that the committee is nearing the conclusion of its work in the capital and will soon begin regional validation sessions to ensure thoroughness in verifying the information received.

“We are virtually done with field validation in the capital, where a lot of the looting happened, but we have also received reports from across the country. Starting this weekend, we will move outside the capital to conduct validation sessions in all regions where we have received petitions,” he explained.

The ORAL Committee's final report is expected to shed light on alleged corruption cases, propose measures to recover stolen resources, and recommend strategies to prevent future misconduct. The committee’s findings will likely be a critical tool in fostering transparency and rebuilding public trust in governance.
