NPP Minority Too Small To Block Government Business With Just 88 Members – Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed threats from the Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, regarding a possible disruption of parliamentary proceedings if the Electoral Commission (EC) does not declare Akua Afriyie the winner of the 2024 Ablekuma North parliamentary election.

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Thursday, Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, the NDC’s Deputy Director of Elections and IT, shrugged off the ultimatum, emphasizing that the Minority lacks the numbers to obstruct legislative activities.
"With only 88 members, they don't even have the quorum to conduct business in Parliament. Even if all our members decided to stay out, what could they possibly achieve?" Tanko Computer remarked.
He further ridiculed the Minority's stance, sarcastically suggesting that they might as well sit in Parliament with laptops and tablets to observe proceedings since their influence is minimal.
"I’ll even propose to the Speaker of Parliament to procure tablets for them so they can sit and monitor what’s happening. What real impact do they have? They’re simply being disruptive without any real power," he added.
With the NDC holding 183 seats alongside four independent MPs, Tanko Computer made it clear that the ruling party remains unbothered by the opposition’s threats, reiterating that parliamentary business will continue uninterrupted.
