Ghana’s Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, has dismissed recent critiques from Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who accused him of disrupting parliamentary efficiency. During a candid interview on The Point of View with Bernard Avle (Channel One TV, January 27), Ayariga shrugged off the claims, labeling Afenyo-Markin’s statements as “over-the-top theatrics” while reaffirming his priority: accelerating government processes.

“Afenyo-Markin has a flair for drama—he spins stories louder than necessary. But that’s his style,” Ayariga quipped, emphasizing his focus on tangible outcomes over political grandstanding. “My job isn’t to entertain debates; it’s to ensure the President’s appointees are approved swiftly so they can serve Ghanaians.”
Addressing whispers of dissent on social media, Ayariga remained unshaken.
“People ask, ‘Why let him speak?’ But the real question is: How many ministers were approved today? Results speak louder than arguments,” he asserted, highlighting record-breaking speeds in processing ministerial nominations. “This is among the fastest approval rates in Ghana’s history—check the records.”
The Majority Leader doubled down on his results-driven approach, stressing that smooth governance hinges on collaboration, not confrontation. “Win through outcomes, not performances,” he added, vowing to keep parliamentary workflows agile to meet national priorities.
As Ghana navigates evolving political dynamics, Ayariga’s stance mirrors a growing demand for accountability and efficiency in African governance. His strategy? Cut the noise, deliver faster.
