This confidence follows a recent court ruling affirming the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the Majority caucus in Parliament, putting to rest previous uncertainties regarding its composition.

The session, per the directive of the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, will be held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), a temporary location chosen for this crucial gathering.

In a statement to Citi News, Effutu MP Alexander Afenyo-Markin emphasized the finality brought by the court’s decision. “This Parliament’s mandate runs until January 6, 2025. The NPP is clearly the Majority in Parliament—there’s no longer any ambiguity,” he said.

Afenyo-Markin highlighted that the court ruling clarified the status of independent candidates, confirming their alignment and caucus affiliations were unaffected by their earlier filings for the 2024 elections. This decision effectively solidified the parliamentary majority's composition.

"The matter is now settled, and we should not expect any further controversies. I am optimistic about a peaceful and productive session ahead," he added.
