Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Member of Parliament for South Dayi, has issued a bold warning to Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Majority Leader, accusing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of blatant disregard for legal protocols in its pursuit of parliamentary dominance.

Speaking during an interview with TV3 on Saturday, December 21, Dafeamekpor slammed Afenyo-Markin and the NPP for allegedly employing unethical methods to secure seven out of nine contested parliamentary seats, following the re-collation of results under a High Court directive.
Dafeamekpor expressed frustration with Afenyo-Markin’s public statements, describing them as “embellished falsehoods” designed to justify what he sees as the NPP’s underhanded tactics. Responding to Afenyo-Markin’s remarks about accepting the results in good faith because “we are brothers,” Dafeamekpor retorted:
“We are not brothers, Afenyo. We are not. When a matter is in court, don’t you respect the judicial process? Today, Afenyo is holding press conferences, praising outcomes of exercises still pending before the Supreme Court. This conduct must stop.”
The South Dayi MP alleged that the NPP leveraged political manipulation to influence the outcome of the contested seats, a move he said undermines the principles of democracy. Dafeamekpor warned that these actions will face strict accountability under a National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, which he predicts will take power on January 7, 2025.
“They may hold government positions now, but the real power has slipped from their grasp and is transitioning to us [NDC]. When we take over, we will demonstrate where true power lies.”
The re-collation process, ordered by the High Court, has been marred by tensions, with seven of the nine contested parliamentary seats being declared in favour of the NPP. This outcome has sparked outrage among NDC members, who argue that the process lacked transparency and fairness.
As Ghana’s political landscape braces for a potential power shift, Dafeamekpor’s fiery statements underscore the NDC’s resolve to challenge what it perceives as political injustices. With the Supreme Court still handling related cases, the final chapter in this high-stakes political battle is far from over.
