The Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) held a jubilant national thanksgiving worship and praise service last Sunday to commemorate the party’s victory in the December 7 general election. The service, which took place at Spanner Junction near the Accra Mall, drew thousands of party faithful dressed in vibrant combinations of white, black, red, and green—the NDC’s signature colors.

Celebratory Atmosphere

The event was marked by euphoric celebrations as attendees sang, danced, and waved party flags and handkerchiefs. Vuvuzelas and whistles amplified the excitement, with the gathering expressing collective gratitude for John Dramani Mahama's return to the presidency.

The service also provided an opportunity for the Youth Wing to reaffirm their support for the incoming Mahama administration and dedicate the nation, its leaders, and the youth to divine guidance for peace and prosperity.

Performances and Presence of Key Figures

The high-spirited atmosphere was enriched by performances from renowned gospel artistes, including Jack Alolome, Nacee, Uncle Ato, Piesie Esther, and the Bethel Revival Choir, among others.

Notable NDC figures were present at the event, including:

  • National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah

  • Former Foreign Affairs Minister Hannah Tetteh

  • Ningo-Prampram MP Sam George

  • Okaikwei South MP Theresa Awuni

  • Madina MP Francis Xavier Sosu

Prayers and Exhortations

Prominent clergy members, including Prophet Nigel Gaisie of the Prophetic Hill Church and Rev. Obofour of the Anointed Palace Chapel, led the gathering in prayers and exhortations. Prophet Gaisie encouraged the congregation to pray against any disruptions to the January 7, 2025, inauguration, stating, “We trust God to cancel every plan of the enemy from now until January 7. This victory is assured and what God has started will be completed.”

He also highlighted the opportunities the Mahama administration would bring, such as the Women’s Bank and the 24-Hour Economy Policy, urging the youth to leverage these initiatives for personal and national development.

Assurances from Party Leadership

National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah commended the youth for their resilience and hard work during the campaign. He underscored their pivotal role in securing victory, emphasizing, “This country belongs to you, and you refused to let your future be derailed.”

He, however, cautioned against complacency, highlighting the challenges posed by opposition forces and security agencies.

George Opare Addo, the National Youth Organiser, echoed similar sentiments, thanking the youth for their efforts and urging continued commitment to nation-building. He assured supporters that the Mahama administration would deliver on its promises and hold accountable those who mismanaged the country’s resources.

Unity and Vision

The service symbolized not just a celebration of electoral success but also a collective commitment to rebuild Ghana under Mahama’s leadership. The youth, seen as the driving force behind the victory, were encouraged to remain steadfast as the nation prepares for a new era of governance and development.
