'Don’t Let Your Constituents Down!' - Bagbin Urges New MPs:

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has called on new Members of Parliament (MPs) to focus on addressing the pressing needs of their constituents and the nation at large.

Speaking at an orientation session for first-time MPs, Speaker Bagbin emphasized the importance of honoring the sacrifices made by constituents who have entrusted them with the responsibility of representation in Parliament.

“You are a role model. The lives of so many people depend on you. Don’t fail them. This is what touches my heart. As you go around, you recollect how people are fighting for you, not just during the elections, but even today in the villages, defending you with their lives. And you are here taking it easy and toying with their future,” he said.

He reminded MPs of their critical duty to secure a better future for the people they serve, many of whom have made significant sacrifices to support their political journeys.

“It is not fair at all, and the Almighty God Himself will not bless you. Because you don’t need that blessing. And it is true. Whatever you sow, you reap it. So don’t think that you do good for any other person. You do it for yourself,” he added.
