Speaking during an interview with GHOne, Nana Abodade III lamented the missed opportunities during Akufo-Addo’s tenure, asserting that the outgoing president had access to unprecedented resources and revenue but failed to deliver on his promises to the nation.

"Ghana Could Have Been Better"

Nana Abodade III expressed disappointment in the outgoing administration’s inability to achieve significant progress despite the wealth of opportunities available. He cited poor governance, corruption, and alleged disregard for traditional leaders as some of the low points of Akufo-Addo’s leadership.

“It is not a good legacy. He could have done more. He had so much revenue, he had so much he could have done for this country, and so we pray we don’t get another Akufo-Addo to be president of Ghana,” Nana Abodade III said.

Alleged Disrespect Toward Chiefs

The Krontihene also accused President Akufo-Addo of disrespecting chiefs, recounting an incident where chiefs were allegedly treated with disdain.

“A good friend of mine who is also a chief told me one day, ‘Let’s see if he will come around and instruct chiefs to wake up to greet him.’ It was quite clear, but people couldn’t just realize it, and some of us are happy that his reign is over,” he remarked.

Hope in Mahama’s Leadership

The Krontihene expressed gratitude for the anticipated leadership of John Dramani Mahama, likening him to the biblical Good Samaritan who is poised to rescue Ghana from its current challenges.

“We thank God that the good Lord is about to give the mantle to President Mahama. As it is in Luke 10:29, Ghana has been stripped naked and Ghana is bleeding. The robbers have stolen all the goodies, so a Good Samaritan has come to rescue her and put her in a good, healthy, and happy situation and also recover the loot that the robbers took,” he stated.

Nana Abodade III believes Mahama’s return marks a turning point for the nation and called on Ghanaians to support his leadership in rebuilding the country.

A Call for Reflection

The traditional leader’s comments reflect broader sentiments of disappointment among sections of the populace and traditional authorities. As the country transitions to new leadership, there are heightened expectations for accountability, economic recovery, and a renewed respect for Ghana’s cultural institutions.
